I think that Gordon Brown's adoption of a Keynesian policy (which I was the first to argue for at the PLP) to mitigate the worst effects of the recession was brave and successful. There would be over half-million more unemployed if he had not done this. Furthermore, as well as protecting public services at this time, he is showing a fighting spirit exposing the vacuous and class-ridden Tories who would take Britain backwards.

I was concerned to hear that armed police turned up in a local residential street just as children were heading off to school. Their mother expressed considerable concern and I sympathise with her. I am seeking clarification of the rules by which armed police operate in residential areas.
